A third branch of Matt's Fish Camp is coming this summer to Fenwick Island.

The seafood restaurant from the SoDel Concepts group will open at the site of the former Ropewalk Fenwick Island at 700 Coastal Highway (Route 1). No date has been set.

The flagship location of Matt’s Fish Camp opened nine years ago in Bethany Beach. A second branch came to Lewes in 2016.

The idea for the restaurant was created by the late Matt Haley, the former head of the SoDel Concepts, who wanted an establishment that focused on fresh, local seafood and coastal comfort classics.

Haley, who received the James Beard Humanitarian of the Year Award, died in 2014.

Like the two other Matt's Fish Camp locations, the Fenwick Island site will offer a menu that includes favorites like colossal crab cakes and lobster rolls.

"With this new restaurant we can continue to pay tribute to our founder Matt Haley, the restaurant’s namesake, and serve great food in a beautiful space along Delaware’s Coast. We will be open year-round and will offer indoor and outdoor dining," said SoDel Concepts’ President Scott Kammerer in a prepared statement.

The owners of Ropewalk restaurant chain plan to continue to operate locations in Ocean City, Maryland; Chincoteague, Virginia; Baltimore, Maryland, and Bethany.

The SoDel Concepts hospitality group now operates 12 coastal restaurants in Sussex County.
